Sending Blessings...

The May You Be Blessed movie is a short email film consisting of kind and inspirational thoughts.  Last year, the movie reached over one million people in just 100 days, as part of the One Million Blessings project to send positivity around the world.  Founder Kate Novak sees participants as 'candles in the darkness'.  And the goodwill is carrying on to see how many more people can be reached with heartfelt wishes.  So get online and spread the love, man!  Visit mayyoubeblessedmovie.com to join the project.

Make a Difference...

Like the idea of volunteering abroad, but don't know how to go about it?  Then pick up a copy of volunteer: A Traveller's guide to making A difference Around The World (£12.99, Lonely Planet) and start making plans.  With in-depth advice from experts in the field, the book covers the ethics, responsibilities and practicalities of volunteering, including short-term projects and ongoing assignments, as well as reviewing a host of organisations you can sign up with.  Candid contributions from experienced volunteers tell it like it is, including the immense rewards of volunteering as wel as the frustrations and potential dangers.  So now you can know before you go!.

Vastu Shastra - How it works...

The ancient Indian art of placement has been used in planning and architecture for thousands of years.  It shares many of the same concepts as feng shui, including the theorgy of energy flowing through your home, and linking different directions with different aspects of life.  It uses motifs to attract positive and deflect negative energy.  But while feng shui is considered to be about 4,000 years old, ancient texts suggest vastu goes back at least 5,000 years, and experts believe feng shui was in fact originally drawn from vastu techniques.  To find out more, visit vastudesign.com

3 Ways - Achieve your goals...

1.  Avoid having too much green in your home.  In colour therapy, it's seen as calming, but too much can create a static atmosphere.  Red is energising, while yellow stimulates the brain, so splash these colours around your home by using throws, cushions and pictures.

2.   Hang motivational pictures around the house.  For example, if you really want to go travelling put postcards of exotic locations on your fridge, or if you want to get fit, use images of sportspeople you admire.

3.   In feng shui, fire is considered motivating.  Bring in some inspiring fire chi by putting up pictures of people or animals and filling your home with lots of electric lamps (low-energy, of course!), which are all linked with the fire element.

Love Bites...

Pep up your love life with chocolate, which contains phenylethylamine, said to help get you in the mood.  It also induces feelings of pleasure, leading to a release of serotonin levels in the brain, adding to its aphrodisiac qualities.  No wonder the Mayans linked it with fertility.
